Double SSI Payments in 2026: Complete Schedule and Months Without Deposits

In 2026, many Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients will experience double SSI payments in certain months, while other months will have no SSI payment at all.

This payment pattern often causes confusion, but it is a normal and planned part of the Social Security Administration’s (SSA) payment schedule.

Why Double SSI Payments Happen

SSI benefits are normally paid on the 1st of each month. When the 1st falls on a weekend or federal holiday, the SSA issues the payment early, usually on the last business day of the previous month.

When this occurs, beneficiaries may receive:

  • One SSI payment for the current month, and

  • One SSI payment issued early for the following month

This results in two SSI payments in one calendar month, followed later by a month with no SSI payment.

Months With Double SSI Payments in 2026

SSI recipients will receive two SSI payments during the following months in 2026:

  • January 2026 – Includes February 2026 SSI paid early

  • May 2026 – Includes June 2026 SSI paid early

  • August 2026 – Includes September 2026 SSI paid early

  • December 2026 – Includes January 2027 SSI paid early

These double-payment months do not represent bonus or extra benefits. One of the payments is simply issued earlier than usual.

Months With No SSI Payment in 2026

Because some SSI payments are issued early, beneficiaries will not receive a payment during the following months:

  • February 2026 – Paid early in January 2026

  • June 2026 – Paid early in May 2026

  • September 2026 – Paid early in August 2026

  • November 2026 – Paid early in October 2026

Although no deposit arrives during these months, beneficiaries still receive their full annual SSI benefit amount.

How Many SSI Payments Are Issued in 2026?

Despite the irregular timing:

  • SSI recipients still receive 12 total payments in 2026

  • No payments are lost or reduced

  • The schedule only shifts payment timing

Does This Affect SSDI or Social Security Retirement Benefits?

No. The double-payment and no-payment pattern applies only to SSI.

Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), retirement benefits, and survivor benefits follow a Wednesday payment schedule based on birth date and are not affected by the SSI calendar.

Beneficiaries who receive both SSI and Social Security may see payments arrive on different dates each month.

Is a Double SSI Payment Extra Money?

No. A double SSI payment month does not increase your total benefits.

One payment is simply an early deposit for a future month, which is why a later month will show no payment.
