SSI Checks of $967 Arriving Early on February 28th

The Social Security Administration (SSA) is set to distribute SSI checks worth $967 to eligible recipients on Friday, February 28, 2025.

This payment provides crucial financial support to many low-income individuals, ensuring they can cover essential living expenses such as housing, utilities, and groceries.

Who Will Receive the SSI Payment?

  • Individuals eligible for SSI will receive up to $967.

  • Married couples can receive a combined benefit of up to $1,450.

  • Essential persons (those who provide necessary care for a recipient) may receive $484.

These payments reflect a 2.5% Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) for 2025, designed to help beneficiaries manage inflation and rising living costs.

Why Is the Payment Arriving on February 28?

The SSA follows a structured payment schedule to prevent delays when the first of the month falls on a weekend or holiday.

Since March 1, 2025, falls on a Saturday, payments are being issued one day earlier, on the last working day of February.

What This Means for Recipients

  • The early payment ensures beneficiaries receive funds without interruption.

  • The next regular SSI payment will be issued on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.

  • Recipients should plan their budgets accordingly, as the time between payments may vary from month to month.

Who Qualifies for SSI?

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is a federal program designed to assist:

  • Individuals aged 65 and older with limited income.

  • People who are blind or disabled and meet income/resource limits.

  • Those who lack sufficient work history to qualify for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI).
